ACCEPTING THE UNACCEPTABLE

Acts 21:14- And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

As free will morals agents we may not detect when we have stepped out of the Will of God.  at times our will may appear to be the direction God has ordained for us to go.  This is why God does not get angry when we are sincerely in His permissive will.  However, God wants us in His Perfect Will.  But more than we would like, God’s Will is covered by the fog of His purpose.  In other words, God may not allow us to go the way we think best; but, He will allow us to go through some unacceptable things in order to get to what will be acceptable.  The unacceptable things will help us even the more to appreciate where God is taking us and what He has done to get us there.

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33b).  Test, trials, and tribulations are an unacceptable part of life.  No one in their right mind wants to suffer or wait.  Even our Lord had to defeat fear (Heb. 5:7-8), and He was content to do the Will of God.  Our Lord knows how we feel when life just does not seem fair (Heb. 4:15).  But as it was with Him—there is a greater purpose, there actually is a reason and a method to the madness.  When we learn to accept what is unacceptable then the Holy Spirit will empower us and reveal the “more than conquerors” that He said we are (Rom. 8:37)!
