I Kings 17:12- And she said, as the Lord God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die. Read 12-16
When the widow woman met up with Elijah, she had given up any hope for the life of her son and herself. She was certain that she was going to cook her last supper and die. But God sent the man of God, Elijah, her way to change her perspective. When she acted upon His Word, the little bit she had increased to more than enough!
In hard times, or in times of uncertainty, it is difficult to walk in expectation of good things when everything bad is happening. It is easy to be pessimistic, and it is a fight to be optimistic. As Christians, we cannot hope for the best and expect the worst. this is not biblical at all! We must remember this: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” See what you are going through as a test of your faith in God’s Word. Have you ever wonder about what God is expecting of you? Surely He does not want you to lay down and die, to run, to give up, or to pack your bags and walk away! Our Father wants us to expect Him to move in a way that we will be convinced—Surely the Lord has done this thing!
