God's wisdom helps me see

*** NOTES FROM SEP 16th ***

Proverbs 3

John 9

Subject : The mind of Christ

Thought: I need the wisdom of God

* Wisdom : the ability to judge correctly and follow the best course of action.

Challenge : To stand on the wisdom of God

God wants us to see with our hearts first.

We speak by faith things that are not yet seen as though they where!

Paul said to the Corinthians "become a fool so that you may become wise"

Proverbs 3:1 - God is saying to us, "Don't forget what I told you" - For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. (Proverbs 3:2 KJV)

How can we forget the God that has provided and protected us?

There is nothing better than the protection of God!

? Admit my faults.
- we need to check ourselves before we check others.

Acknowledging the things that have affected you is one thing, but know that in Christ you are a new creature.

In everything give thanks.

RISE ABOVE IT

Matt. 26:31- Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

It is interesting to note that the word “offended” in our verse for the day is the Greek “skandalizo.”  This word is our English word “scandalize.”  It means to obstruct one’s way with the intent to make them fall.  When one scandalizes another with the simple use of their words, or an evil deed, could severely impair the progress of another.  Some never recover from a scandal, others may be deeply scarred by it, and the rest will push full steam ahead despite what has been said or done.  But even those who move forward may suffer side effects, or could become temporally paralyzed at one point or another.

The enemy knew that taking away our Lord from those who loved Him would have a great negative impact.  As soon as Jesus was smitten, the sheep scattered.  His followers were offended by what appeared to be the tragic end of something that was destine for greatness.  The women were crying and the disciples were hiding.

“Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.”  Offences are definitely going to come (Matt. 18:7).  Yet the question is not whether they will come, but rather how will you or I handle them?  Yes the intent was for them to cause the maximum damage possible.  But if we think about how our Lord overcame being offended, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will see right through satan’s intention and counter his Move with God’s Word!  Jesus forgave those who offended Him, and went on to die so that He would rise on the third day, and He wants you and me to do the same!

Love or Death - A philosophy of life

Over centuries man has always put forth this question, “What is the meaning of life”?  Today I would like to put forth an answer to that question.

The Bible teaches us that God is love (I John 4:8, 16), and that sin leads to death (Rom. 6:23.  Sin is the nature within all men (Rom. 3:21).  Sins are acts which are not in agreement with God’s Will and purpose. In the book of Genesis God told Adam and Eve not to eat of a particular tree in the center of the Garden, for if they did, they would surely die. When our ancestors did, sin entered them and the world. Moreover, sin brought death into the world (Rom. 5:12). Ultimately, Adam and Eve chose death over Love!

1 John 4:8 explains, “God is Love.” We see in the creation of man how God loved Adam, He created Adam in his own image and likeness.  Adam lived for and because of God. He was obedient at first. When you are obedient to God you are choosing Love. When you are disobedient you are choosing sin. Sin leads to death.

The entire Bible is a collection of historical stories and divine directions and instructions to choose God (who is Love) or sin (which is death).  This choice is presented to us every second of every day.  We are constantly choosing love or death.

Jesus came to earth and showed us how to choose love on a daily basis. Because he chose love, he died sinless. Because he died sinless, He received victory over death when He rose again in three days.

Jesus is the representative for those that want to spend eternity with God which is love. That’s why Christians follow Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ is a representative of God’s love for us (John 3:16).

And as it will stand forever, the only way into heaven is to follow Christ.  We have to accept Jesus as our Lord and savior and let him into our hearts (Rom. 10:8-10). We must give our lives unto him.

So what is it going to be? Love or death?

Hell

Ps. 9:17- The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

There are no phonies in Hell

Only those who chose to rebel.

Only those who chose to live a life without God

Only those who refused to believe that Jesus washed away their sin

Only those who refused to look within

Only those who refuse to believe God’s word

And thought it to be absurd

Only those who are fearful

There’s no party in Hell; no, only those who chose to rebel

Hell is a place where only fire you taste

Hell is a place where the prideful are abased

Hell is a place where many will try to plead their case

Hell is a place where the fire cinches, but never quenches

There are many skeptics in Hell

Are those the ones we did tell?

Did we tell them to bow down before God’s face?

Did we tell them to seek God’s matchless grace?

Did we tell them about Jesus and his blood

That it was enough?

How many children of the devil did you know?

How many seeds of the word did you sow?

How much faith did you grow?

How much love did you show?

WHAT SHAL WE SAY

Read Rom. 8:28-31: What shall we say to these things?  If God be for us, who can be against us?

Me looking into your situation is far from me going through the same.  It is always easier to give your opinion while looking into someone’s dilemma at any present time.  Some will be insensitive or indifferent to our problems because it doesn’t concern them.  So encouraged or not by another human, we must muster up the strength and courage to forge ahead.  This is why encouraging ourselves through the Word of God is of the utmost importance.  Finite man will fail at times to give us the support, love, kindness, and encouragement we need.  Therefore, no one or nothing will give us the lift and wherewithal like the Word of God!

When God is for us, our problem(s) are so small because He is so great.  So we can say, in no uncertain terms, “Because God is for us no one can be against us.”  God predestine you for greatness.  He knew you before you entered your mother’s womb.  He called and ordained you for your mission, which no one else can accomplish but you!  He justified, sanctified, and glorified you because you have accepted his only way to relationship and fellowship with Him, Jesus Christ.  Therefore, even your light afflictions are working out towards your good.  Your financial difficulties are to cause you to be totally dependent on the one who owns the earth (Ps. 24:1), and not fear those who think they are in control.  Even those wrong things that certain ones did to you and I was to cause us to trust in our God, and to not put any trust in man (Ps. 118:8).  What shall we say?  Look at your mountain and say,  “Because God is for me, you cannot stand against me!”

Peace

Peace is not dictated by outer circumstances but rather by the condition of your inner life.

How is your inner life? Where are you planted? And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:7). You don’t have to understand everything that happens to you as long as you know and believe that it is happening for you.  In Romans 8:28, it says that all things work together for the good to them that love God, and to them who are the called according to his purpose.  When bad things happen to you, you can still have peace because you know that God is in control of your life, because you belong to him.

Peace in the scriptures is defined as rest, safety, health, harmony and tranquility.  We can find rest for our souls in Psalms 116:7, it says, Return unto thy rest, O my soul….  It is God’s desire for our soul to be at ease, or in tranquility.  It is in this state, that we find God.  A soul in turmoil and unrest cannot receive the things of God.  Turmoil on the inside produces turmoil on the outside. So again I ask, how is your inner life?

DON’T EVER GIVE UP

Gal 6:8- For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

The pressures of life can wear us down.  Mental exhaustion will be the result.  Deadlines, demands, and the disruptions to our peace and joy are ever present.  But we must always beware of allowing our problems to cause us to sow to our flesh.  Our thoughts, actions, and words are easily the products of what is going on in our lives that is affecting our hearts.  Thoughts are seeds, and wrong thoughts will sow inedible seeds.  If I intentionally sow apple seeds, an apple tree will grow and bring forth fruit.  If I purposely sow poison ivy, it will not bring forth anything for me to live off.

We must think the best in the worst of times.  Thank God he didn’t leave us to do this on our own.  Rather, He gave us His Word, and commands that we have faith in what He said: “…Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22).  The things of God are not natural to us.  His things are against everything our flesh holds dear.  Fear, doubt, and giving up on our brothers and sisters are the exclusive rights of the flesh; but to love and believe God is obeying God’s Word in faith.  Get the point!  So while well doing can seem tiresome, burdensome, and just downright unacceptable, the benefits will exceed our expectations.  A promise is given to those who do not give up.  We sow in one season, to reap in another.  Keep sowing to your spirit.  God cannot lie (Titus 1:2).  Don’t give up, and you will reap the benefits of faithful obedience.

BETRAYAL

by Pastor Troy V. Ingram

Matt. 26:23- And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

To be betrayed is one of the most horrible things to experience as a human being.  Yet someone in our family, or one of our friends, could do it at anytime.  We cannot be betrayed by a stranger, for there is no connection of the heart with them.  What is most hurtful about betrayal is that it happens unexpectedly and usually by someone you would not suspect. Someone you loved, respected, and trusted.  Betrayal has been equated with being stabbed in the back.  Many never get over the breach of trust.  I know of a few who have suffered nervous breakdowns.  Some have been so seriously damaged that it altered their character in some way.  Praise God we can overcome betrayal with love. Charity (love) never fails (I Cor. 13:8a).  Jesus could not save Judas, the son of perdition (John 17:12), but He still loved him!

Things that hurt us initially could make us stronger when the pain subsides.  If we stay angry, remain unforgiving, live in bitterness or resentment at the ones who have betrayed us, then we are not walking in the Spirit.  The Holy Spirit releases power to us to do those things which are beyond our ability to do.  He will teach us how to love those who have offended us.  However, His help depends upon our obedience to the Word of God to forgive.  If we don’t forgive, neither will God forgive us (Mark 11:26).  No matter how terrible the atrocity committed against you or I, we cannot allow it to dictate and control our thoughts—talk—and walk in the Spirit (Gal. 5:16).  Also, do not even think of revenge; it belongs to God (Rom. 12:9).  Your flesh will not feel enjoy walking in God’s Will, but in the long run you will be filled with joy that you did.
